Amsterdam Open BJJ Tournament
Amsterdam Open is the first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament HBN organized.. This was back in
June 2006. This was the first BJJ & Grappling event ever to be held in Amsterdam and attracted several fighters from abroad. The 2nd Amsterdam Open was held in October of 2006 and enjoyed presence of some top wrestlers competing in Grappling. This tournament was sponsored by Zona-mma, Shihan & Keiko. Because of the success of the Amsterdam Open it was decided to make it an exclusive, annual event. The Amsterdam Open 2007 was a great BJJ and Grappling tournament with 250 competitors from all over Europe.
It was sponsored by Zona-mma, Shihan & Keiko. In 2008 HBN took the next step for the growth of the Amsterdam Open and moved to a bigger venue with larger fight areas.
The two most famous Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournaments are the Amsterdam Open and the Holland Gi Challenge which each year draw a large amount of international BJJ competitors from Europe and beyond. These are the most prestigious Brazilian Jiu Jitsu events organized every year in Amsterdam, with the Amsterdam Open in October and the Holland Gi Challenge in February.
